There are several options when choosing a company to host your website or webshop.

Many web hosting providers offer their own e-commerce solutions for an extra monthly fee. These often give you an integrated shopping cart functionality.

Some hosting providers will include e-Commerce software with the deal that you can install yourself.

There are several commercial packages that can generate an online shop which can then be hosted on a web server.

Other hosting providers may not provide any e-Commerce facilities, but these can be purchased separately.

When choosing a host you should consider the recurring cost (usually a monthly fee), any set up costs (including purchasing a domain name), the bandwidth (amount of data in megabytes or gigabytes that can be downloaded in a month) and the storage space (in megabytes)

You can also buy your domain name separately and use the DNS (domain name servers) settings to point your domain at your website. The company that sells you the domain will give you instructions and the company that provides your hosting will give you the nameservers to use.
