QXL (pronounced Quick-Sell) started in the UK in 1997 and claims to be the ‘original’ UK based auction site.

It is similar to eBay and operates in several European markets such as Poland (as Allegro), the UK, Norway and Denmark (as QXL), Czech Republic, Ukraine and Russia (as Aukro). It merged with German based auction site Ricardo in 2000 and became QXL Ricardo. It still operates a Ricardo auction site in Switzerland but the German site no longer exists.

QXL offers auction format and buy-now format listings, as well as classified ads. It has a rating system to provide feedback on other users.
